Five End-of-Year Success Rituals

woman successDecember can be a potent opportunity to release the old and prepare for the new. I have found what I do in December paves the way for a healthy and prosperous new year.

Here are 5 of my favorite end of year success rituals.

  1. Start a new calendar

.  A goal without a deadline is a hallucination. A calendar is a great place to record deadlines of important goals and projects. The last quarter is also a perfect time to plan events, seminars and vacations.  Never forget a birthday again. Now is the time to write in any birthdays, anniversaries and reoccurring events.

  2. Review the year.

The saying “If its not broke, don’t fix it” is a great reminder to carry last year successes into the New Year. Take time to reflect. What successes did you enjoy?  What lessons did you learn? What unfinished business remains? What clutter is weighing you down?

  3. Start a new Journal.

If you keep a journal, December is a powerful time to review the year’s events, lessons and insights you have recorded. If you have not yet begun the practice of journaling now is a great time to start!  Studies show the practice of journaling reduces stress and improves immune system function. The act of writing accesses your left brain, which is analytical and rational. While your left brain is busy, your right brain is free to create, intuit and feel.

  4. Attend or create a releasing ceremony.

Ceremony whether guided or private can be a powerful opportunity to release negative emotions such as anger, bitterness and unforgiveness. “Unforgiveness is classified as a disease in medical books . According to Dr. Steven Standiford, chief of surgery at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America, refusing to forgive makes people sick and keeps them that way.  Every December, I lead a “Release and Receive Ceremony”. This is a powerful opportunity to release the beliefs and feelings that no longer serve and open the way to receive our hearts desire.

  5. Create a vision board.

Create or update your vision board. Consider creating a family or couples vision board. Vision is one of the essential ingredients necessary for success.  Without it our lives are marked by confusion, frustration and a lack of (stick-to-it- ness) necessary to finish the course. With vision, we discover an internal strength, focus, and passion that enables us to finish our course no matter what obstacles and hardships we may have along the way. Having a vision board and a system to use it is a powerful way to keep our vision in focus. I have developed a unique system of vision boarding called a “Vision Focus Wheel” that is based on brain science and can grow with you. Using this system will benefit you all year long.

Why wait for January to plan next year?  Use the quiet in between holidays to jump start next year with an end of the year success ritual.
