We are creatures of habit.
We sit at the same place in a church, sleep on the same side of the bed, brush our teeth and tie our shoes the same way and create automatic daily rituals. Here are a few of my favorite strategies and rituals to position yourself for a successful New Year!.
My Favorite End-of-Year Rituals For a Successful New Year
First, I like to begin by asking questions. Nothing helps us refine and define more than the art of asking reflective and empowering questions.
Great questions for reflecting on the previous year
Take time to reflect and answer the following questions either individually or, as a couple, family or business team. Reflecting on last year can prepare us to set up next year for a successful new year. What did I(we):
- Love about last year?
- Feel worked really well this past year?
- Think didn’t work well?
- Need to release that no longer serve me?
- Spend less time on or with?
- Learn? What was my (our) most important lesson or discovery?
Great questions to position yourself for a successful new year.
Answer the following questions either individually or, as a couple, family or business team to set goals for the new year. These questions can be used for planning and laying the foundation for a successful new year. What would I (we):
- Like to change or do differently next year?
- Do more of next year?
- Do less of next year?
- Like to create new habits or routines in the new year?
Use The Power of Words to Create Successful New Year
I like to name every year. Each year I pray and identify 1-3 words the best describe how I would like next year to be? Examples of some of my words over the past few years include – leap, love & legacy, stretch, serve & strategy. These past years’ words were – Expand, Explore, Enjoy. Writing your words fresh every morning is a powerful focusing tool to manifest your goals, dreams, and desires.
Start a (new) Journal.
Keeping a journal is a powerful way to tap into your creativity, learn about yourself and create a successful new year. Each year, between Thanksgiving and New Years, I review my personal and business journals with a highlighter. I purchase a new journal that sparks joy and makes me happy to look at and I then begin using my Journal Template (FREE). I also add a page called “Lessons” to make notes of things I learned, prayers answered. Finally, I update my goals, desires, and vision.
Create a Successful New Year using a Vision Board.
Years ago I created a powerful variation of the vision board called a vision focus wheel.
A vision focus wheel is positioned according to your brain lead (innate energy advantage). Watch this video to learn more about your brain lead.
I create my vision board using a corkboard so I can add, change or interact with it daily. The beauty is that your vision board can grow and change with you. Have a new desire? Add it to your board. Don’t like an image anymore? Remove it.
Get your desk and records in order.
- Receipts and Folders
Transfer all of the past year’s receipts and folders into a different place (ready for taxes) and create new folders. This is a great time to clear accumulated clutter and clean your office and desk for a fresh start in the New Year. For a really fresh start consider a new rug or coat of paint. Even move the furniture around. You are not the same as you were last year.
Clear your computer desktop and email folders
Empty your personal and business email folders as well. Pick out a new screensaver that inspires you.
Update and get current with your clients
If you are in business send Holiday Greetings, specials and updates to your clients using an auto-responder.
If you don’t yet have a good CRM this is a good time go get one. I have used Red Oak Cart for years. I have found it to be the most “bang for the buck” with CRM, Shopping Cart and Product Delivery all in one. There is nothing more important in business than growing and nurturing your list. It’s time to get all those business cards online and build a relationship with them.
Create a Successful New Year By Setting up a new calendar.
I use two calendars. My favorite is the one that sits on my desk. It has a month at a glance with huge squares so I can write appointments, expenses due and $ that came in (as a back up to quicken in case the CPA asks me about something). .I also use schedulicity for my clients or potential clients to book a FREE business breakthrough strategy session.
I color code my desktop calendar so I can see and monitor how much balance I have in my life with just a glance. (Green=business/$ Purple=spiritual Red=expenses Pink=love/play).
Remember to always Mark out your vacations, birthdays, holidays and important events first! This is an important step in creating a life you love!
I pray this has helped you add or enhance your year-end rituals.
