YOU are a Masterpiece. Step into your Awesomeness

You are a Masterpiece of Pure Awesomeness!woman, beauty, masterpiece,, awesomeness

You are awesome! How do you feel when you hear that? Do you brush it off and say, “yeah right!”.

Imagine for a moment your eye catches a glimpse of some fine art propped in a dark and dusty corner and surrounded by a pile of junk.

How would you react?  Would you be shocked?  Would you feel compelled to redeem it and restore it to its original splendor?

I believe this may be exactly how God feels about you and me.

God’s Awesome Masterpiece

After He created the spectacular ball of fire we call sun and the shimmering moon He said “It is good”

When He filled the dark sky with such grandeur that “the heavens declared the  glory of God”, He smiled and said “It is good”

After covering and adorning the fields with lilies and such splendor that not even “Solomon dressed in all his glory” could compare. He once again smiled and said, “it is good.”

Upon stocking the oceans with a vast and diverse array of life from the majestic whales, to the playful dolphins and the adorable seahorses…He said, “It is good”

But the crown glory of all of creation was the stunning man and (wo)man created in the very image and likeness of Creator God!

He gave then dominion and authority to reign, infinite creativity and the ability to love…He gloried in His creation and said, “It is very good!”

Later Paul’s letter to the Ephesians would describe us as His “Poema” which means handiwork or masterpiece, poetry, in other words, pure awesomeness!

So why don’t I feel awesome?

In simple language years of programming.

Thousands of years later have passed since creation and we start each day with a completely different perspective.

Unlike David who still understood and celebrated the masterpiece he was

“I will give thanks and praise to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;” – Psalms 139:14

We have learned to look in the mirror and see flaws.

We mercilessly criticize and judge ourself.

Instead of agreeing with God that, “it is good”

We notice the wrinkles, crinkles, bulges and all the is “wrong”.

Truth or fiction?

We are brilliant storytellers. And our mind believes every word of it.

The theme of our stories are often based on lack and not-enoughness.

“I woke up too late. I didn’t get enough sleep”

“There is not enough time to get it all done!”

“There is just not enough money”

“My credit score is too low and I don’t have enough capital.”

“I don’t have enough education and experience to compete”

“I am too old, young, stupid, slow…”

As old as time

Creating these internal stories is a craft that is as old as time.

Scripture calls them “sophisticated arguments.”

These are not cute little red riding hood stories.

Far from the truth of our awesomeness and potential, they are dangerous lies.

These lies keep us from stepping up, showing up and enjoying the abundant life God promised us!

They keep us from revealing and be-ing the awesomeness we truly are!

“Our weapons are divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying sophisticated arguments and every exalted and proud thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought and purpose captive to the obedience of Christ,    -2 Cor. 10:5 AMP

Our internal stories begin as a thought and they grow until they are a fully established fortress (stronghold). They directly oppose the True and affect all areas of our life from money, relationships to our self-concept and God-concept.

What if the truth is…

that you are beautiful and have access to infinite creativity, resources, and abundance?

the solutions to not only your problems but to some of the greatest challenges faced by the world are within you?

you were created for greatness?

you can do even greater things than Christ?

If only you believe…

One of my favorite movies to demonstrate this is “I Feel Pretty“.

A hit to the head while working out and suddenly how she saw herself changed. In truth, nothing on the outside changed. She was the same. But when she changed how she PERCEIVED herself every aspect of her life changed!

She stepped into her awesomeness!

Created for greatness

Scripture says you are created for greatness and will do even greater things than Christ.

I assure you and most solemnly say to you, anyone who believes in Me [as Savior] will also do the things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these – John 14:12 AMP

The infinite and awesome mind of Christ

Scripture says we have access to the very mind of Christ!

The life and faith of George Washington Carver is a great example of this and continues to inspire me!.

His simple faith allowed Him to tap into his God-given awesomeness in spite of every possible obstacle of poverty, racial segregation, and prejudice.

In one story he cried out to God,

“Oh, Mr. Creator, why did You make the universe?” to which God replied,“You want to know too much for that little mind of yours. Ask me something more your size.” So he asked a smaller question, “Dear Mr. Creator, tell me what man was made for.” Still too big. Looking at his surroundings he prayed, “Mr. Creator, why did You make the peanut?””That’s better!” the Lord said, and He gave me a handful of peanuts and went with me back to the laboratory and, together, we got down to work.

Lest you think the peanut was thinking small, today, Carver is credited as being the Father of agriculture who saved the agricultural economy of the rural South.  He developed approximately 300 products made from peanuts; including flour, paste, insulation, paper, wallboard, wood stains, soap, shaving cream, and skin lotion. He experimented with medicines made from peanuts, which included antiseptics, laxatives, and treatment for goiter.

What’s Possible?

One of my favorite questions to ask myself is, “What’s possible Lord?”

Coming from a place of possibility moves me above the constraints of lack and not-enoughness and opens my mind to greatness.

“If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”-Mark 9:23 NKJV

I am reminded of Paul’s prayer to the Ephesians that they would grasp the Power WITHIN them

“And [I pray] that the eyes of your heart [the very center and core of your being] may be enlightened [flooded with light by the Holy Spirit], so that you will know and cherish the [f]hope [the divine guarantee, the confident expectation] to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the [g]saints (God’s people), and [so that you will begin to know] what the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His [active, spiritual] power is in us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of His mighty strength which He [h]produced in Christ when He raised Him from the dead – Eph 1:18-20 AMP

I opened this blog by asking you to imagine a masterpiece.

I close with reminding you that

YOU ARE A (HIS) AWESOME MASTERPIECE

For we are God’s masterpiece.  – Eph 2:10 NLT

So, what awesomeness will you be?
